Joseph Robinson, B.Ed, M.A.

Joseph Robinson is a founding director of Ashe Academy & Ensemble and the Jamaica Aids Support. A brilliant and well-loved choreographer, dancer, tutor, lecturer, counselor, writer and researcher, Robinson travelled to many Caribbean islands such as Trinidad, Haiti, St Lucia, Jamaica, and the Bahamas researching Afro- Caribbean dances and culture.

 

He combined his love for education, reproductive health counseling, culture, the performing arts and his twenty years of working with young people throughout the Caribbean in creating his book. His educational background was the framework for Ashe's facilitator training and work. This background included a B.A. in Mathematics and Psychology, and a B.Ed. in special education from York University, Toronto, Canada, a diploma in Dance Education from Edna Manley College for the performing and Visual Arts, and an M.A. in Dance in Higher Education from New York University.
