Michael Holgate, MPhil
Michael Holgate is Artistic Director, writer and workshop trainer/facilitator with Ashe Performing Arts Company. Holgate holds a B.A. in English Literature and an MPhil in Cultural Studies from the University of the West Indies. He is assistant staff tutor at the Phillip Sherlock Center for the Creative Arts as well as part-time lecturer and External Examiner in Folk and Traditional Dance at the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts.
Holgate is a prolific writer who has written numerous plays and songs, and is also the author of the Jamaican fantasy/sci-fi novel Night of the Indigo, published by Macmillan Caribbean in the Island Fiction Series in 2009. Holgate is a creative consultant to numerous production companies and shows, including Digicel Rising Stars where he is both a Performance Coach and Creative Director.
